Considering a Move to the EU?

Moving to the European Union from abroad can involve unique challenges. We’ve been there, we’ve done that. And we’ve built the network and expertise to support you.

Here’s The Truth

As a dual EU citizen, you have a huge advantage in life. You can live, work, retire, and study freely in over 30 countries across Europe.

But the reality is that countries are made for two types of people: those who grow up there and those who immigrate there.

However, when it comes to you, you don’t fall into either bucket. You’re not a native and you’re not an immigrant. There are real-world challenges that come with that. We’ve been there. We’ve done that. We can help you with the next steps.

Legal, Tax & Compliance

FATCA & F-Bar:
All US citizens face difficulties opening bank accounts abroad due to FATCA and F-Bar regulations. We review your situation and provide tailored strategies.

Cross-Border Taxation:
Once resident in an EU country, your American income may become taxable locally—and sometimes more than you expect. We provide introductions to EU-based tax advisors who understand both US and European tax laws.

US Tax Obligations:
As a US citizen, you’ll still need to file tax returns every year, even while living in Europe. We connect you with experts who can handle dual filings, tax translations, and more.

Legal Support:
We maintain a network of vetted EU lawyers and notaries who can assist with any legal matters you might face across Europe.

About Daniel Atz

All of our relocation services are facilitated by Citizenship.EU’s Founder, Daniel Atz.

Daniel became a dual EU citizen in 2014 through his Luxembourg ancestry. Since then, he has lived, studied, and worked in eight countries—including six within the European Union—giving him first-hand experience of the opportunities and challenges that come with holding dual citizenship.

In addition to founding Citizenship.EU, Daniel founded LuxCitizenship in 2016, with the mission of helping Americans navigate the path to Luxembourg citizenship and make the most of the unique benefits it offers. Since then, he has guided over 2,000 individuals through the complexities of EU dual citizenship, relocation, and cross-border living.

Previously, Daniel worked for the Belgian-American Chamber of Commerce, where he helped over 200 Benelux companies expand into the US market and supported hundreds of young professionals in securing international internships. His career has allowed him to build strong government and business networks across Europe and develop a deep understanding of transatlantic mobility.

A polyglot, Daniel speaks English, French, Chinese, Portuguese, and is currently learning Luxembourgish. He holds a Bachelor of International Studies from Loyola University Chicago and currently resides in New York, continuing his work to help others take full advantage of EU citizenship.
